American investor, author and founder of the Boston-based hedge fund Baupost Group. Baupost was founded in 1982 with Havard professor William J. Poorvu and three other investors. Baupost has delivered an annualized return of over 20%, increasing Baupost’s assets under management to over €30 billion. USD, making it one of the largest in the US. Klarman holds a BA from Cornell and an MBA from Harvard.

Klarman is considered by many to be one of the leading experts in value investing and his book “Margin of Safety” is a cult classic among investors and sells used for prices up to $3,000 on Amazon (yes, you read that right).

Investment philosophy

Karman is a well-known advocate of value investing and is basically looking for companies with values of DKK 1, but that sell for 50 cents.

He is a big follower of Benjamin Graham (Warren Buffett’s mentor) and can undoubtedly be characterized as a long-term and very patient investor.

Klarman is known to often hold 30-50% of the fund in cash, waiting for the market to offer him some very favorable prices.
